If you have ever met Steven Repas, you know how truly special he was. You may have known Steve from Half Moon Bay, maybe you knew him from up on the mountain at his house nestled in the redwoods, or you may have even met Steve from his new home in Reno with his loving girlfriend, Rachelle. No matter how you knew Steven, his slightly off-centered smile was contagious everywhere he went. Steven’s love of the outdoors was contagious. When not exploring the Nevada deserts or scaling granite walls along the California Coast, Steve was actively pursuing an education in Environmental Studies and had a long pursuit of becoming a ranger to protect both the nature he loved and the people that visited it. Steve had a passion for music as well. You could find Steve serenading friends and family with his acoustic guitar, plucking along to any genre in the books, from Neil Young to Bruno Mars. He recently began learning to play the piano. He was a renaissance man of sorts. Steven was loved by many. Some families even took him in as their own son. He inherited this trait from his loving family who accepted everybody into their home (and refrigerator) as if it was your own.
Last Sunday we learned the horrifying news of our best friend, our son, our brother; Steven’s life was cut short due to an unintentional gunshot wound. We were in utter shock to learn of his passing. Knowing that we will never be able to speak to him again is unfathomable. Steven was well known as one of the most genuinely good hearted, funny and adventurous people to those who met him. He left his mark on people by helping them see the humor in the little things, inspiring spontaneous excursions and always having your back.
Knowing personally what a major financial blow the loss of a life can have, we knew we had to do everything we could to help the Repas family. The proceeds from this memorial fund will go towards Steven's cremation, his medical bills from a four day stay in the Intensive Care Unit, ambulance bills and his memorial service. All funds that exceed these costs will be donated to his family.
We all know the Repas family as some of the most kind, loving, generous and humorous people, and want to help them through this terrible financial strain it has brought upon them so they may focus on fondly remembering and grieving the loss of their son. We are very grateful for any size donation that will help soften the impact that Steven's passing will have upon them.
