Steve's Lifesaving Treatment Needs Your Help

My name is Deanna Chadil and I’m raising money for my friend Steve Ange who is battling cancer. He has a chance to go to Mexico for a cancer treatment. All the money raised will go directly to him to help with treatment and expenses. Read more about Steve’s story below.

“Do you have any concerns?” asked my dental hygienist. “Yes, I’ve had a tender spot in the bottom of my mouth for the last four or five days.” That conversation occurred during a routine visit in September 2015. That tender spot turned out to be Stage 4A, HPV Virus cancer in my right tonsil and two lymph nodes. It would lead to 13 months of hell. Six weeks into treatment, I had given up, with only seven treatments to go. My incredible Radiation Oncologist Dr. Hung Zhang told me, “If you give up now, there is only one outcome, you will die.” I replied, “I don’t care.” She wouldn’t let me out of the office that day until I agreed to continue treatment. Three extended hospital stays and more procedures than I care to remember, and I’m here today with many lasting side effects of the brutal treatment that saved my life. I have so many people to thank. My doctors weren’t sure at times if I would make it. I told them, “Only the good die young. I’m here till 160.”

Three years later, in September of 2018, during routine follow up Dr. Zhang came into the room and said we need to talk. My scan had showed that the cancer had spread to my lungs. Radiation treatment to the left lung killed the cancer. But unfortunately, the areas in my right lung didn’t respond as well. For the last six years and four months I have endured several different treatments to my right lung. As these have helped me to stay alive these past few years now I am at the point where I am out of options in the United States.

I have found a hospital in Mexico that holds promise for a treatment that is not available here. Unfortunately, my health insurance will not cover the costs of treatment in Mexico so now I will have to pay out of pocket for continued care. I am not comfortable asking for help but I would be grateful for any assistance in covering the cost for treatment in Mexico so I can stay true to my word and be here until I’m 160.
