***UPDATE***30.5.23
Thank you everyone for all your donations we are so overwhelmed with the support we have around us! A quick update Steve has had a really hard time the last couple months he has been in hospital with complications, due to the amount of damage to his liver from the cancer it had set off an internal bleed from a vein in his oesophagus which was banded straight away but due to a long hospital stay he ended up with ascites overload (again due to his liver) and had to have a drain inserted into his abdomen to drain the almost 12litres of fluid out! Unfortunately once he came home he ended up getting cellulitis (a skin infection) down the right side of his body so he was then admitted for another 5days.
He has since recovered and is back home trying to get his appetite and strength back from being in hospital so long. In regards to the new target radiation treatment he was offered, we went to Sydney to only be denied treatment because of his liver functions not being good enough, they were worried about sending him over the edge into liver failure and the doctor said this won’t be a cure but may give him some more time so plan B! Steve is back on a chemo drug he was on previously that caused Neuropathy damage but it filters through the kidneys and may give his liver a little rest which will hopefully then get him out of the red zone and able to have this target radiation treatment so fingers crossed it works quickly and he doesn’t end up with permanent damage to his arms and legs
This target treatment if he gets the go ahead unfortunately does not go through the public system either so if he is approved it’s around $20,000 including treatment and those damn hospital fees so know that we are soo grateful for all your donations as that’s exactly where it’s going!

********
Steve Hattander is a 33 year old husband to Samantha and father of two little boys Chase (8) and Ethan (3). In 2021 Steve was diagnosed with stage 4 Bowel & Liver Cancer. He has undergone 18 months of fortnightly chemotherapy but has temporarily stopped treatment as no longer working and has had many side effects.
The doctors have given him one last option of direct treatment into the liver but comes with a very high risk and a big expense.

Steve is still fighting this terminal illness. As you can imagine this has had a huge emotional, physical and financial burden the family has taken on.

All donations will go towards helping pay for medical expenses, ongoing household and living expenses, as well as supporting Samantha while she is off work.

We are sending lots of positive vibes and love to Steve, Samantha and family.

Thank you for your support
