Stevens Thailand Journey

Hello everyone, our names are Kelly & Chrissy, we are Steven younger sisters. As some of you may already know Steven’s story. But for those of you who do not know, let us tell you a little bit about it.

Steven is 36 year old, single dad to three beautiful boys aged 10, 9 & 7. Steven has been a hard working man his entire life to provide for his little family, working in the mines on a FIFO roster. On the 25th of March 2024 sadly Steven was diagnosed with a very rare and Very aggressive cancer called Spindle Cell Rhabdomyosarcoma. This type of cancer is very very rare, which is mainly diagnosed in younger children. But for an adult to be diagnosed with this particular cancer is about 1% in every 1 million adults, which makes it very hard to diagnose and treat. This cancer started in Stevens face but soon spread to his spine and hips. Steven started chemotherapy treatment in April, with a 12 month plan of intense treatment. 15 weeks into his chemo treatment the specialist had informed Steven and his family that the cancer was not responding to the primary treatment. The head board of oncology suggested on completing a 5 week plan of intense daily radiation treatment, but unfortunately 3 weeks in the cancer was not responding to this treatment also. Head of oncology scheduled a meeting to inform Steven that there was no further treatment available here for him in Australia and was told to go home and spend time with his family.

This gut wrenching news has bought family and friends together in search for other options in treating his cancer. Steven is not ready to give up as he has three beautiful boys who need their dad. Unfortunately Australia cannot provide any more medical treatment, but to keep steven comfortable as possible. Many family and friends have done research and have found a facility that is willing to take on Stevens case. As all things medical, it comes with a price. With Steven having to give up work to start treatment he does not have the funds to accept Thailands offer.

Steven is a very strong, most independent and resilient family man. Despite everything he has been dealt with this year he has remained optimistic and unwavering with his diagnoses and fight for life. Steven is a person who never wants hand outs or people to fuss over him. He has finally accepted our offer of making him a GoFundMe to help him start his journey to Thailand for a second chance in life.

Cost for just the Medical treatment itself is $65,000. That is not accommodation and flights included. We are needing about $80,000 to get Steven there and back!
