Hi, my name is Mia J. Garza, and I’m fundraising for my dad, Steven Garza.

In July 2019, my dad was diagnosed with advanced stage 4 prostate cancer. Since then, he’s fought through so much. Countless doctor visits, rounds of chemotherapy, and multiple types of treatment over the years. Through it all, he’s stayed strong, patient, and hopeful.

He hasn’t been able to receive treatment since mid-2023, and recently, his condition has started to affect him more severely. Simple daily tasks like walking, cooking, and even sleeping have become extremely difficult for him.

While we do have insurance, it only covers so much. Many of the medical treatments and expenses he needs right now aren’t covered at all or come with out of pocket costs we cannot afford. My dad is disabled and unable to work, which makes it harder to keep up with everything.

Since losing my mom in October 2019, my dad has been my rock. Even through his sickness, he’s never stopped being my dad. He’s taken me to concerts across cities, driven my friends around before any of us were able to drive, and still cooks for me everyday. He’s always been supportive of my dreams, and watching him in pain not being able to help him feels unbearable.

My dad was supposed to get his treatment a few months ago, but we’ve been unable to pay for it since our insurance doesn’t cover it. The last 6 years, he’s burned through his lifesavings on countless medical bills and other expenses to help him through not just his illness, but taking care of my family. These donations will help my dad through future medical treatments and expenses, transportation, medications, as well as doctor visits and at home care. Anything helps, even $5 or just simply sharing the link.
