Friends,
As some of you already know, our friend, Steve Gilson, has recently been diagnosed with stage-4 Non- Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He is currently undergoing treatment, but his future is unclear.
He has a very positive attitude, and a kind, humble spirit, but he needs our help. Many of you have reached out to him after hearing the news and have been kind enough to ask what it is that he needs; what it is that you can do to help.
He is fortunate enough to have the loving support of family and friends. Thankfully, he is lucky to be getting the medical treatment that he needs. He needs your kind thoughts, love, and support, of course. But what he does not have, and really needs, is money to help him get through this.
Those of you who attended North Salem High School will remember Steve as someone who was very involved and always giving to our community. He received many awards, including the Future Business Leaders of America Student Award and the Joseph H. Albert Prize. He was a Rotarian (awarded for his involvement in school activities), a National Honor Society member, and was voted "Most Likely to Succeed" by his classmates. What those honors do not say about Steve, is what a caring and funny person he is.
Steve gave us so much and it's time we gave back to him. He is currently living with his parents, but can't for much longer, due to the restrictions in their lease. He needs an affordable apartment and a reliable vehicle to be able to get to his treatment sessions. He has taken the steps to apply for long-term supports, but the approval process is a lengthy one. He needs enough funding to last 6 months until he can get back on his feet and become self-sufficient.
Sometimes, the greatest strength comes from knowing when to ask for help. I am asking for you to help Steve now, and I know that he will be eternally grateful for any amount of help you are able to provide him.
Kelly Ralph set this up for me.
I'm so grateful and I love you Kelly.
