Update: Steven will be sent home from the hospital tomorrow on hospice.
Steven Spenner Sr. is a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and my uncle. He is a kind and loving man that would give and do anything to help anyone in need. On Monday, March 20th, 2023, he went to be seen by his doctor because he was experiencing shortness of breath and dizziness. Doctors put him out of work the rest of the week believing the symptoms were caused by his blood pressure medication and possibly his heart. As the week progressed his symptoms worsened. On Friday, March 24th, 2023, he returned to his doctor’s office because his symptoms had not improved. He had fallen a couple of times, his blood pressure was dropping dangerously low, and he was still having a hard time breathing. The doctor's office called 911 and sent him to the ER thinking there were complications with his heart. He was admitted to the ER and diagnosed with pneumonia. The doctors opted to do further testing since there were additional symptoms and ordered a CT scan. The CT scan revealed that he had cancer throughout his body.
At this time, his medical team is planning the best course of action. He will likely no longer be able to work. His wife, Lynne Spenner, has taken a leave from work to be by his side. Once he goes home he will need a lot of care and extensive modifications will need to be done to their home. Any donations to assist with bills, medical expenses, and lost wages are greatly appreciated. Lynne and Steven sincerely appreciate your donations, thoughts, and prayers, however, while they are dealing with this incredibly difficult situation, they are asking for privacy as they navigate their way through this unexpected diagnosis.
