Steven Signore's Battle with Cancer

Hello Everyone,

You may or may not know about Steven’s battle with cancer. Earlier this year, Steven first noticed pain in his shoulder, but took it as a sports injury. After weeks of uncertainty, this pain drove him to meet with an oncologist who diagnosed cancerous germ cell tumors in three different places in his body. This type of cancer is aggressive and rare.

 Steven got his first round of chemotherapy within days of diagnosis, and since then it’s been a cycle of treatment and rest weeks. Steven experienced a number of chemotherapy complications and most recently had multiple ER visits. That’s where we are now at the time of this posting.

 The road has been a short but grueling one, receiving this diagnosis on the heels of a pandemic and being limited in number and hours of visitors.

 Now that four chemotherapy rounds and scans are completed, Steven next faces surgery. His doctors are hopeful that they’re able to successfully remove the tumor in his chest and will then construct a plan for removing the other tumors on his shoulder and spine.

 We all have our Steven stories, memories, and connections to how we know each other. One thing remains the same – his smile and laugh permeate every room he’s in. Steven is a loving son, brother, cousin, uncle, and friend, and has touched the lives of so many of us. His presence lights up any room he walks into and continues to this day. Steven never forgot his Yonkers roots when he went to undergrad at Fordham, which landed him a job in Manhattan and a spot in the MBA program at his alma mater.

 While Steven has health insurance, it will not cover all the medical and other expenses generated by his illness. He’s on disability leave from work until treatment has been completed. It is our hope we can ease the financial stress so Steven and his family can focus on successful treatment with as little outside concern as possible.

 Steven and his family need our help now more than ever and this is an opportunity to do just that. Steven is not one to ask for help but is so deserving of this relief we can bring. It’s our hope to achieve this goal of decreasing their financial burden and ease the stress, shock, and fear that steven and his family is currently experiencing.

 No donation is too small. However, if you cannot financially contribute and would still like to help, please feel free to do any of the following:

 Share this page with friends, family, and on social media;
Send prayers or good thoughts; or
Send a card with encouraging words (123 Hildreth Place Yonkers, NY 10704).

While we’re uncertain of what the total treatment costs will be, they’re already adding up quickly between the ER visits, hospital stays, treatments, and medications.

 Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any action of support you can provide, reinforcing the love we all share for Steven and a reminder that he is not alone in this difficult time.

Sincerely,

The Family and Friends of Steven
