When I was 22  my kidneys stopped working completely  and I have been on dialysis since -  that along with a host of other issues have caused me to accumulate a  large amount of debt.

Blow is a brief summary of my medical history.

2011:  December - still in college when I first become ill. Diagnosed with MPGN type 2 Kidney disease.

2012: January 2 - Kidneys have stopped working completely, I have a catheter  placed in my chest  and start dialysis. Start to feel better so I stay in school while doing dialysis . Graduate in the fall.

2013-2014:
Have kidney transplant.

2015-2016
Transplanted kidney  stops working and go back on dialysis.  Move to NJ to be closer to family.

2017-2018
I have another kidney transplant  lined up but 2-3 days before the surgery  my hemoglobin ( Hb) levels start dropping and doctors cant figure out why. Surgery  gets cancelled.   Had two bone marrow biopsies, saw several specialists and even fly out to the Mayo clinic trying to find answers - no one could understand or explain what was  happening.

I then started receiving regular blood transfusions for a 20-22 month period- up till March 2019. My Hb level would be tested at dialysis once a week and if it was to low  I would have to check myself into the emergency room for a blood transfusion.  I would receive anywhere from 1-3 units of blood each time. Only one unit of blood can be administered at a time  and a transfusion of red blood cells take 3-4 hours.   During this period I received anywhere from  90-120 total blood transfusions- often spending nights and days in the hospital.

2019

March
In the last week of  March I become very ill & wind up back in the hospital where I loose consciousness for 6-7 days due to pneumonia and a  blood infection.  Doctors find bacteria  from the infection has  deteriorated one of the heart valves (mitral) & I then have open heart surgery to place in an artificial valve

July
Back in the hospital . The valve that was placed in from the previous surgery had collapsed on itself- I need second  open heart surgery to stabilize the valve.
