On July 6th I was diagnosed with Philadelphia Chromosome positive Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (PH+ ALL). I haven't been to work since July 3rd and have been in and out of the hospital for treatments. This disease makes me very susceptible to infections and bleeding due to a reduction in blood cell counts (white blood cells, hemoglobin, platelets, etc.) This disease is curable but I am on my last form of treatment, immunotherapy, before resorting to a bone marrow transplant. If the immunotherapy does not bring the cancer to undetectable levels I will need a bone marrow transplant and will extend my leave from work another 6-12 months. I will still be undergoing maintenance chemotherapy even after the cancer is no longer detectable. Along with regular monthly bills, I have become responsible for a wave of medical bills; making the next several months both stressful and financially unpredictable. I have to sell my car because I can no longer afford the payments and insurance...my savings is depleted and as my family and I navigate through these difficult times any contribution would be appreciated from the bottom of our hearts. Along with all of the other obstacles 2020 has brought on this extra burden has been very difficult. These funds will go a very long way to supporting me until I am able to get back to work.
