After dealing with unresolved pain for months, which eventually became severe in his ribs, chest, and spine, Steven was diagnosed on July 27, 2022 with multiple myeloma, a cancer of plasma cells.

God has led Steven to a great care team that includes his oncology specialist as well as a holistic team to begin treatments immediately and attack this cancer from any and all angles! As anyone who has faced a similar road knows, the cost of treatment and care is GREAT. It’s an emotional, physical and financial weight like no other.

The current goal is based on initial estimates of treatment and care through the Fall. This is all just beginning. Over the course of the next few weeks, once they know what insurance will or will not cover, as well as what reality actually looks like over the course of his treatment and daily care, the goal may increase. For now, based on similar cases and treatment protocols we have set the current goal. Updates will be forthcoming with more details and overall needs. One of the definitions of a “FREAK” is an “ardent enthusiast.” CCM group DC Talk had a massive hit and trend setting song in the 90’s called “Jesus Freak”. The song and message resonated with me. I got several t-shirts at their concerts and I’ve had them for over 25 years. They’ve never worn out! I think the shirts didn’t wear out so that as we approach this battle for my life, I can wear them as a reminder to Believe, Stand strong, Fight, and Share Faith, Hope, & the Love of Jesus no matter what comes my way. So… I’m facing this FIGHT like a “FREAK” till we win! - Steven
