Steven Aceves - Cancer Help Fund

Our younger brother Steven Aceves, age 31, was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer at the end of March 2018. His cancer, Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma, was discovered after under going surgery to remove a tumor from the orbital cavity of his right eye. The prognosis received from his local doctor's was not very positive nor, admittedly, did they have the experience or expertise to treat his cancer beyond their basic radiation treatments. They also believed Steven would lose the vision in his eye and/or remove his eye altogether. Steven was able to connect and consult with a doctor located in Boston for a second opinion. Fortunately, Steven was considered a good candidate to undergo their specialized proton administered radiation therapy. Proton beam therapy is the most advanced form of radiation therapy available today. The Dr. in Boston has the most experience and expertise in the world treating Steven’s form of cancer. He has a high success rate and all but one of his patients has retained their vision.
Steven will be in Boston for 8 weeks through August 14, 2018 and when completed will have received 36 radiation treatments and 7 low dose chemo therapy treatments.
We are thankful for his medical care in Boston, for the insurance that will cover his major medical costs, and for his free lodging at Hope Lodge cancer care facility. However, both Steven and his wife Kesha will be off from work for at least 3 months and suffer loss of wages during this challenging treatment and post-recovery time.
We are setting up this GoFundMe campaign to show our love and support for Steven, his wife Kesha, his two young daughters, Kaelynn ,5, Leanna, 3, and step-daughter Destiny, 17. The funds raised will be used to help off-set their loss of wages to maintain their household living expenses and medical costs not covered by insurance. The funds will also be used to donate to the American Cancer Society-Hope Lodge and the AACI for continued cancer research.
If you would like to drop Steven a note or a card, please send to: Steven Aceves c/o, Hope Lodge, 125 S. Huntington Ave, Boston, Mass, 02130, Room 307.
Thank you for your support and consideration of this donation request.
