Memorial Fund for Steve Gallant

Donation protected

As many of you know, Steve Gallant passed away at 5:47am January 22nd, 2016.

Steve was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver and terminal liver cancer Sept 3rd, 2015. Despite traditional treatment not being an option, Steve sought out alternative methods of treatment which we truly believe with the help of Steve’s faith, allowed him to be with us as long as he was. On Sunday, January 17th, 2016 Steve (because of his liver) was placed on life support to undergo an unavoidable procedure. After the procedure he was placed in ICU. From there his kidneys shut down and he was placed on dialysis for 72 hours in hopes that his kidneys would jump start. According to the nurses and doctors Steve would no longer be responsive, we were all in complete shock when Steve woke up Thursday for the first time while family and friends were there.( he could not speak, he was able to wave, hold hands and shake his head yes/no, he even bowed his head and began to pray).
He took himself off of life support, and despite all odds was finally able to breath 100% on his own.  Taking the decision of his life off of his children and placing it into Gods hands. In the end, Steve experienced multi-organ dysfunction and it was just too much for his body to handle.

Steve is an amazing father, grandfather, uncle, brother, father in law and friend. He fought and stayed strong with his faith until the very end. His passing was peaceful, surrounded by family and Gods love.

We have set up a memorial fund to help with the relief of funeral costs and to help with the travel expenses of his children and grandchildren who are out of state and to be seperated while we are all grieving is torture. Steve did not have a power of attorney his 7 children have had to make a lot of very difficult decisions these last 5 days concerning what Steve would want. Since he never discussed his final wishes we are having to navigate blindly through this process.

There is a time limit with the funeral home to set a date with them. We have one week to finalize everything with them and get his family here. Steve, unfortunately, because of his health was unable to work and did not have medical or life insurance and with all of the medical expenses my husband, Jonathan (Steve's son) and myself have taken care of we aren't sure how we are going to financially pull through. We have prayed about it and have decided to ask for help in allowing us to give him the burial he deserves with all of his children and grandchildren there.

Anything you can give would be greatly appreciated by the entire Gallant family.
