Family and friends who know Steve Wright, know that he has one of the biggest hearts, the best attitude, a great smile, an immense love for his family and friends, and knows no strangers! He worked very hard for years providing for his family. Steve is the guy who, when he was able, always helped others. Now, he is the one who needs our help!
Steve was diagnosed with Type 1 (juvenile) diabetes when he was 18 and has fought this terrible debilitating disease for 39 years. Ten years ago Steve contracted MRSA, and in the last year and a half his health issues have reached a critical point. He has suffered from failing kidneys, toe amputations, extreme weight loss, rheumatoid arthritis, eye and nerve problems, but through all of his struggles has kept his faith in God and his sense of humor.
Right after Christmas, Steve spent 20 days in the hospital, with an extremely red, swollen and intensely painful right foot. After culture and bone biopsy, serious MRSA infection was confirmed. While in the hospital, he fell and fractured his left wrist, further challenging his mobility and emotional state.
Although Steve is now home, his fight is far from over. He is still very, very sick and has a difficult six-week treatment ahead of very strong and extremely expensive IV antibiotics. We are hopeful that the antibiotics will be successful in keeping the infection out of his bloodstream and saving his leg.
Here's where we need your help:
The last ten years of multiple hospital stays, doctor appointments, surgeries, and costly drugs have resulted in financial exhaustion for Steve.
Our immediate family has pulled together to help with uncovered medical expenses for the lifesaving IV antibiotic treatment, out of pocket hospital charges, doctors bills, etc, but an additional $33,700 is needed!
Steve is very humble and would not ask for himself, so we (his family) are asking for him. Please give whatever you are comfortable giving to help Steve! No amount is too small.
