Steve got Covid the end of March, he quarantined the whole time at home and was okay up until the day after his quarantine should have been over and done with. March 29th he woke up and his oxygen was quite low, so my mom decided to take him to our regional hospital. From there he was admitted to the covid unit and intubated for 5 days. After he was taken off the ventilator, he was moved to the ICU side. Things were looking up and his condition was improving. He was moved to rehab after a couple weeks and we thought we could finally see the light at the end of the tunnel! He stayed in rehab for about two weeks, and at the end of those two weeks he suffered some pretty bad nosebleeds and started coughing up blood. It was determined by the medical staff that he should be airlifted to a bigger hospital in Nashville. There, he spent two days in MICU then was transferred to the ICU where he was for under a week before he had to be transferred back to MICU because they decided he needed to be intubated again. He was intubated for a week and yesterday (May 15) they decided to trach him.
