Steven Douglas Silver a father, husband, brother, son, coach and friend passed away unexpectedly on February 8, 2019 at the age of 48.
Steve is survived by his wife Jennifer, daughter Jocelyn and son Nicholas, his parents, Milton and Sara Silver, of Ben Lomond, CA, his brother in-law Steven James, his niece and nephew Avery and Nolan James, his in-laws Nile and Barbara James of Cameron Park, CA and his brother Rick Silver and family.
Steve was born in Walnut Creek, CA on September 16, 1970. He graduated from Sacramento State University in 1995 with a degree in Communications and worked for many tech firms in Talent Acquisition, most recently with Cisco Systems, as their Senior Director of Global Engineering Talent Acquisition. On June 15, 1996, Steve married Jennifer Denise James, his college sweetheart, soul mate and the love of his life. On December 14, 1999 and October 17, 2002, he welcomed his beautiful daughter Jocelyn and son Nicholas into this world, who gave him purpose.
Steve was a devoted husband, father, brother, friend, avid boater and outdoorsman. He enjoyed all sports, and especially those his children were involved in. He coached in Folsom American Little League Baseball, and the Vista Jr. Eagles Youth Football program for six years. In his memory, he was just named the Vista del Lago High School freshmen football linebacker coach for this upcoming season. His heart was literally larger than most as he still holds powerlifting records in the state of California. He had a relentless zest for life and connecting with people. He was kind to all, never met a stranger, and was ready to help anyone, anytime with anything. His friends, his family and his community will miss him greatly.
If you were lucky enough to know Steve, you understand the void he has left behind. Please join us to pay tribute to his life and offer love to his family.
There will be a viewing for family and friends on Thursday, February 14, 2019 from 6-9 PM at Miller Funeral Home, 507 Scott Street in Folsom and if you knew him…you were a friend and we will make room.
There is a Celebration of Life service to be held Friday, February 15, 2019 from 11 AM - 12:30 PM at Lakeside Church, 745 Oak Ave. Pkwy, Folsom, and a reception immediately following at the Block from 12:30 PM - 3:00 PM.
