Just a month ago, Steve Schiller and Jennie Horton were living their lives here on Orcas with their two kids. Stomach pain sent them to the ER where Steve was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. It was a shock to us all. He has been hospitalized for the last two weeks with Jennie by his side, so we are creating this fund to support this family in covering lost wages, medical bills, travel and accommodation costs, and to help with living expenses. The hope is that Steve can come home soon under hospice care to spend his remaining time peacefully with his family.

This sweet family has lived on Orcas for over twenty years, raising two kids here (well, almost; their youngest is a senior at OIHS). Steve was a friendly face for so many of us at the lumber yard and on the parks and rec soccer field, where he volunteered as a coach for many years.
