Hi, our names are Ronald "Scott" Shearer, Jackie Goodwin, Wayne and Bessie Coyne, Megan Coyne and Adele Simmonds. We are raising funds to help our friend Steve Rudolph.

Steve Rudolph, renowned jazz pianist, educator, and composer, and a founder of the Central Pennsylvania Friends of Jazz sustained a stroke on November 1. At first hospitalized, he has been released from the hospital, and is now recovering at home.

The stroke has left Steve with limited mobility. While there have been positive advancements in that he is able to begin putting thoughts into words, doctors say his fine motor skills with his right hand will take a while to recover. He is receiving Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy to facilitate his mobility. Despite the challenges, both Steve and his wife, Andy, maintain an undeterred optimism that he will recover and regain the mobility needed to get back to what he loves: professional music making.

Steve has significantly shaped jazz and piano over his 50 plus years of professional music making, touching the lives and hearts of those not only in Central Pennsylvania, but those all over the world. However, this unexpected turn of events will mean extra bills and a loss of work for Central Pennsylvania’s favorite jazz man.

It’s time for us to step up and show Steve and Andy how much we care. First, our prayers for comfort and healing are very important and much appreciated. Secondly, we need to help Steve and Andy financially. We all know that insurance only goes so far. Steve’s earnings have ceased, and with out-of-pocket rehabilitation and daily living expenses, the need for our financial help is considerable.

The money raised from this GoFundMe account will solely go to expenses for Steve and Andy. We are appealing to the hearts and kindness of those who love Steve and who love jazz to help raise funds needed to cover day-to-day living costs, lost income and costs of therapy and rehabilitation that is not covered by insurance.
