Hi everyone, my name is Nicole. For those who don't know me, I am Steve's youngest daughter. I have resorted to creating a GoFund to help my parents with their extensive medical expenses.
My dad Steve recently had a traumatic, life-changing event, for those who don't know. Not only affecting himself but our family as well. He was misdiagnosed years ago and was never given the correct treatment for his condition. He was never diagnosed with PAD (Peripheral Artery Disease) until last week at the ER, where he was rushed due to a severe septic infection in his right leg.
Due to the Gangrene, he lost his right leg above the knee. The amputation has severely affected his life and his day-to-day functions. He will have to undergo physical therapy and eventually get a prosthetic leg.
Not only has this physically affected him, but he is also emotionally damaged. There are many things he will have to learn to do again, and to top it off, the medical bills have racked up to over a hundred thousand dollars.
Those who know my dad know what a hard worker he has been his whole life. He lost his job due to COVID and is surviving on Social Security but is being denied both regular and emergency Medi-Cal. My parents are stuck with these out-of-pocket expenses they just don't have.
My dad has gone through so much and shouldn't worry about how he will pay for his life-saving treatment.
Due to financial issues, the hospital is trying to discharge him far before he is ready to leave. This is the last straw to be able to cover his stacked-up medical expenses, as well as his future ones, including medication, prosthetic leg, therapy, and overall living expenses.
Anyone who knows my parents knows they don't ever ask for anything, yet they do so much for others. It is breaking my heart to watch them struggle, and I am just asking for family, friends, and just about anyone that can help to donate. Even $1 helps. We want to get my dad healthy again and not under the stress of medical bills.
"For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me." – Matthew 25:35
Thank you, and God Bless
