As many of you know, Steve Ray has been diagnosed with Chronic Lyme Disease (CLD) and he and his family need our help. Despite Steve’s valiant and brave struggle, his health and vitality has deteriorated rapidly over the past several years. The insidious attack of CLD on Steve’s body has robbed him of his once vigorous health, career, finances, and ability to do all the normal things of life on a daily basis that we all take for granted.
To help you understand the difficulty of dealing with his condition, here is a brief description of Lyme Disease:
"Lyme disease has been called the great masquerader because it can mimic many other diseases like MS, ALS, Fibromyalgia, and other chronic fatigue and autoimmune diseases. Lyme disease is an illness caused by the bacteria Borrelia Burgdorferi and is transmitted by a tick bite. In its advanced stages it attacks the nervous system and causes loss of speech, loss of functioning in the hands and arms, fatigue, weight loss, and a dramatic decline in overall health that can become fatal."
Lyme disease has attacked Steve’s nervous system and he has lost most of his ability to speak. The deterioration of fine motor skills and loss of muscle mass has also caused an inability to perform basic daily tasks such as holding a glass or eating utensils and even dressing himself. The disease has also greatly impacted his mobility and health to a point where he was forced to go on disability by his employer and then give up his career when the disability runs out.
Steve and his wife Kelly are putting up a valiant fight and have expended a small fortune to pay for the vital treatments that are needed that their insurance does not cover. With Steve being forced to go on disability, they now need a strong community to surround them with both emotional and financial support so that current and new treatments can continue which will restore Steve’s health and take him down the road to recovery.
After twenty hyperbaric chamber treatments Steve began to show improvement in his hands. With the funds collected, Steve will be able to do the full protocol of 80 chamber treatments and pursue other treatments through a doctor who specializes in Lyme disease.
