For those of you who have never met our buddy, uncle, husband, dad, brother, son, I am sure you have heard us talk about him.
Steve and Natanya have welcomed many, many people into their home with a meal, a hug or a soft place to land, if needed. They truly are an amazing couple and have helped so many people.
Steve Plett is truly one of the most amazing men that we have ever had the pleasure of knowing and our lives were made better because he is in it.
Natanaya and Steve’s dreams were finally coming true! They had just bought their first home and except for their son, Jacob, being born, they have never been more excited.
Unfortunately, two weeks before they took possession, Steve was laid off from his long term job due to the terrible economy in Calgary. This was not a big deal though. Because of Steve’s work ethic, he quickly found a job in Fort McMurray. Although he was not crazy about leaving his family for a week at a time, the bills needed to be paid.
When Steve started this job two months ago, he wasn’t feeling himself, but never one to complain, he kept working and going to the doctor when he had his days off. Unfortunately, the doctors did not find anything wrong with him, even though he was losing weight at an alarming rate and was just not feeling well. Thanksgiving weekend, he finally got his CT scan and a diagnosis, stomach cancer.
Steve was rushed to Emergency last weekend and received even worse news, it is Stage 4 and inoperable.
With Natanya by his side, Steve is vowing to fight this and if anybody can do it, it’s Steve. His biggest worry right now is how he is supporting his family as bills are already piling up. Natanya, of course, just wants to be by her man’s side and is taking the time off work to do so. With being at his new job for such a short time, any kind of work benefits are limited.
After helping so many people, they now need our help. If you can’t help financially, then please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
