I have been in kidney failure for 18 years.  I   Currently do hemo dialysis at home five times a week for four and a half hours each time. It is like a part-time job.  am trying to get a kidney at 3 transplant locations. If my transplant comes through Johns Hopkins then I will need to go to Maryland for six weeks and then return every three months for about 6 to 10 visits. The expense will be the transplant and traveling to get it. Plus, after the transplant the antirejection medications are very expensive.
