Steve Meraz Memorial Fund

Hello Everyone, for those that don’t already know, my little brother Steve O Meraz passed away on June 25, 2023.

As most of you may know he suffered from addiction. He had cirrhosis, recently found he had heart problems, sleep apnea and had multiple foot and knee surgeries and was prone to infections. He was confined to a wheelchair.

We do not know the actual cause of death yet. They are performing the autopsy now and will inform us when it’s complete. He was living with our mom and they recently lost their home. I was not communicating with them for a while. They were staying in their car and he wasn’t feeling well. Mom was going to have him picked up to go back to the hospital, but when she checked him that day, he didn’t wake up. She then called me and I went to bring her home with me.

Since he did not pass away in the hospital, they have to notify next of kin, which is his daughter Rachelle. Unfortunately no one knows where she is and the police have not found her. So having said that, they need to wait a month before they can even release his remains to be cremated.

Therefore I’m collecting funds to pay for cremation and his memorial service and whatever else Mom needs. She is staying with me and my brother Robert as of now.

For any of you reading this may know he and I have had many ups and downs and we hadn’t spoken in months. Even after all we’ve been through, I never stopped loving him. I truly hope he knows that!

So I ask everyone to please help with whatever they can and if you can’t help financially please share the link. As soon as we are able to set up the cremation and plan the memorial I will post the info!

Thank you everyone and I have to close with this…no matter how bad things can get with family, try not to hold grudges! I am learning the hard way that being stubborn and prideful is not worth all the hurt that comes after! Don’t hide from it, face it head on and try your best to learn to forgive, and move on.

Steve was 51, had one child Rachelle and he had one grandchild Milo. Please also pray for them as we do not know where they are! Hope they are well! Thank you everyone and God Bless!
