It is with great sadness the family of Steven “Steve” John Martino announce the unexpected death of the beloved father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and beloved member of the community. Steve passed away on May 27th 2021 surrounded by his family.
Steve was born and raised in Michigan and attended Manistique Middle and High school. He lived in Germfask Michigan before he moved to California where he lived in the East Bay Area for over 40 years.
Steve will be remembered by his sense of humor, his love for fishing and riding his motorcycle, for being a jack of all trades and his passion for sports. Throughout his children's adolescence Steve was their baseball coach in the Junior Optimist Baseball League (JOBL) where he helped coach hundreds of kids and aspiring athletes. He earned many recognitions for his commitment as a coach with JOBL and will forever be part of the community.
Steve was a kind, loving and generous man and his final act of generosity was to give the gift of life to others through the donation of his organs, eyes and tissues. His spirit will continue to live on through the memories we hold onto of him.
He is survived by his siblings, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and all those that loved him.
We thank everyone who has reached to the family to express condolences, prayed for the grieving of the family and Steve’s spirit and donated to help cover the cost of his services. The family plans a celebration of life in his honor and information will be shared soon.
