Steve Kruithoff, 67, passed away on October 29 after an eight year-long battle with Parkinson’s. The last years of his life were celebrated all around the US from coast-to-coast. It was his dream to spend time with family and friends following his diagnosis and retirement from Holland High School in 2014, and 36 years of teaching. He was most proud to be Holland High’s Head Wrestling Coach, but also spent time coaching football as well. His greatest passion was woodworking and taught many students this trade and donated many handmade toys over the years to Toys For Tots.
All financial donations will be used to pay for services with any remaining funds being donated to the Parkinson’s Foundation, for which Steve was always proudly sporting wristbands for awareness.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Rita, of 39 years. His mother-in-law, Flora Walker of Jensen Beach, Florida, and step-mother-in-law, Angela Dansby of Canberra, Australia. Steve leaves his legacy with four daughters: Melissa Douglas (Johnny Ruggles), Erin Kruithoff (Dave Dick), Stacee Kruithoff, and Kabel (Ryan) Sheehan. Steve was proceeded in death by his mother and father, Ethel & Wally Kruithoff, his father(s)-in-law Benjamin Franklin Dansby, and Sammy Walker as well as his first son, Mike Douglas. Additionally, Steve will be deeply missed by his siblings; Marcia (Clare) Weber, Karen (Ed) Bezilla, Peggy (Den) DeYoung, Tom (Karen) Kruithoff, & Bruce (Lynn) Kruithoff, and siblings-in-law; Benjie (Lisa) Dansby, Jenny Dansby (Andrew Lowe), Wendy Dansby (Kosta Karvelas), & Robert Dansby (Jess Goldfinch) along with many nieces and nephews as well as grandnieces & grandnephews.
Steve is the proud grandfather of 17; Hunter (Sidney) Ruggles, Nicholas Douglas, Tyler Douglas, Lukas Dick, David Dick, Malachi Dick, Cienna Ruggles, Kylee Douglas, Johanna Kruithoff, Mirabel Gadea, Colten Petznik, Kyla Sheehan, Evan Sheehan, Reazen Ruggles, Koda Sheehan, Asher Sheehan, & Tinsley Sheehan. His first great grandchild is due 2/2/22.
