Steve Hixson's Tragic Loss to Cancer

Hi Everyone,

My name is Taylor Hixson, and I never imagined I’d be writing this.

On March 30th, 2025, we lost my dad, Steve Hixson. He was only 51.

Just last year, my dad was putting on the last suit and tie he would ever wear and getting ready to walk me down the aisle. Fast forward he recently started feeling ill. We thought it was just something going around. Instead, it was stage four colon cancer.

His liver and kidneys were failing, and the doctors told us we had just two months left. Two months with the man who was everything to us.

My dad was my hero. He was the best dad, a devoted husband, and a loving son and brother. He stood strong, always put family first, and had a heart bigger than anyone should.

I watched him fight. I watched him suffer. I watched him fall. Then I watched God take him away…

It’s hard to put into words the depth of pain, watching the light dim from a man who sacrificed everything for my mom and I. And now, we’re left with a hole that nothing can ever fill.

Little to my knowledge, my dad hadn’t been able to work at full capacity. The medical bills have fallen on my mom and me. Now, we’re facing the harsh reality of his death, and my mom is struggling to cope — both financially and emotionally. She’s devastated, and we’re doing our best to figure out how to move forward without him.

We don’t like asking for help. But right now, with the risk of my mom losing her home...we need it.
