On the 2nd of May in the early hours of the morning, Steve Gusman suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm without any warning. The ambulance was called and he was taken to Coffs Harbour Hospital. Within a few hours, Steve was being airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle where he had life saving brain surgery to secure the brain bleed.

 

Steve suffered a subarachnoid brain hemorrhage as a result of the incident, which essentially means he has a large bleed on his brain. He has been in an induced coma in the intensive care unit with family by his side for 14 days now and is still continuing to fight.

 

At this stage, the Gusman family is still uncertain as to what the future holds for their beloved husband and father. They have been told that due to the extent of Steve’s injury, he will require continuous care if he wakes up and that his hospital stay will be quite lengthy.
