Honor Steve Geist: Support His Family's Future

Donation protected
On the morning of Sunday, January 26th, we lost Steve Geist – a truly magnificent human. He was intent on living his life as he wished, with love and normalcy, and hoped for his family to thrive despite the inevitable hurdles they were to face. However, after his courageous and often relentless battle with cancer, we now have the impossible task of saying goodbye to an incredible friend, a loving and amazing father, and a wonderful husband.

In 2016, the Geist family - Steve, Richelle, and their boys, Harper and Everett, journeyed to Denmark for an exciting opportunity to work for LEGO—his dream job. It was a chance to immerse himself in a world he loved, bring that passion to others, and provide his family with an experience to explore new cultures and grow stronger together.

During their time abroad, Steve was diagnosed with cancer. A little more than five years later, Steve and Richelle decided to return to Lancaster, bringing them closer to their family and friends’ support network. Though leaving the stability at LEGO, Steve was focused on his family’s happiness and knew that being surrounded by loved ones would help them through the most challenging times.

But as many of us know, navigating the U.S. healthcare system while fighting a chronic illness is a battle in itself—one that brings financial stress and uncertainty. As Richelle and the kids begin to face a future without Steve, they are not only grieving the loss of a husband and father but also adjusting to the financial burdens that come with such a loss.

Throughout his illness, Steve never let cancer define him. His wit, humor, and generous spirit remained unchanged. Whether cracking snarky jokes, challenging friends to board games, or helping those who needed it most, Steve’s love for his life, family, and friends was fierce and unwavering. As high school sweethearts, Steve and Richelle were so (almost obnoxiously :) in love… and that never changed. Their love is an example to us all of a couple who devoted themselves to being partners in love, life, and strife. Steve was the first to lend a hand to anyone in need, to share a laugh when you needed it most, and to make you feel like everything would be okay. And he was so frickin’ sweet and funny, even at the end.

Now, it’s our turn to embrace his spirit, return the favor, and show his family the same love and support.

If you can donate, no matter the amount, your kindness will go a long way in helping them through this difficult time. Let’s show Richelle, Harper, and Everett that they are not alone—Steve’s legacy of love, humor, and generosity will live on in all of us.
