I created this on behalf of Steven and Holly Engel. Steve has just had Craniectomy brain surgery and is on his way to a full recovery and a normal life! Steve has a lot of loved ones and friends worldwide, and we humbly ask with the upcoming medical bills and treatments.
A little about Steve…
Steven Engel decided to serve our great country three days after graduating high school in Ellsworth, Illinois. He has since traveled the world, making lifelong friends in the oil and gas, trucking, and refinery industries. He is currently on leave as a Unit Operator at Holly Frontier Refinery. The week of July 11, 2022 (when all of this came to pass), we had the same bible verse shared with us by two different people. This is confirmation that God is moving, and He is not done healing and restoring Steve. The bible verse shared is:
“When I Passed by you and saw you squirming in your blood, I said to you “Live!’ Yes, I said to you while you were in your blood, ‘Live!” ~Ezekiel 16:6
To give you a brief background…
Steve (seemingly out of nowhere) started showing symptoms on Sunday, July 10, 2022 - during family game night. He could not close his hands to hold his cards, and we brushed it off as a bit of heat exhaustion.
Monday, July 11, 2022 – Steve was with his wife watering the garden and feeding the chickens when he zoned out for the first time. His wife, Holly, asked him to hand her the water hose, and Steve could not comprehend the request - staring off into the distance. Holly asked if he was tired and he said, “Yes.” She told him to go in for the night while she finished the outside chores. By the time she came in for the evening, Steve was asleep.
The following morning, Tuesday, July 12th – Steve did not wake up as himself. He typically gets up early (around 3:30 AM). He miraculously made it to work without injury but hit a light pole in the work parking lot. His coworkers immediately knew something was wrong and called an ambulance. Later that day, we confirmed (with a Cat Scan) that a golf ball size mass was found in the lower left quadrant of his brain.
On July 14th – Steve had a Craniectomy brain surgery. Just before being discharged (July 16th), the ICU nurse shared with Holly a keynote from the neurosurgeon’s report stating the tumor is, “highly suspicious for primary neoplasm such as Glioblastoma”. However, the next day July 17, 2022 – Steve was “leaps and bounds” ahead of his recovery schedule and was able to come home!
Steve is fighting one heck of a battle, and our family is humbly asking for help to relieve the upcoming medical bills and treatments in the days and weeks ahead. Any amount helps! Please share this crowdfunding for others to see.
