Family and friends we are in need of your help and your prayers. My Uncle Steve was in a horrific motorcycle accident on September 19th.
He was rushed to the hospital with numerous injuries to his body. He suffered a broken foot, leg, hand, arm, all ribs on the right side, a lacerated liver, punctured lung, and a head wound.
His immediate need was a surgery to stop the bleeding from his head as he lost a tremendous amount of blood. He had two chest tubes and was placed on a ventilator as he was not breathing on his own with the injuries to his lung. He was also placed in a medically induced coma while the doctors continued to complete one surgery after another and to allow his body the ability to try and heal in between. He has pneumonia in his lungs and spiked fevers up to 103. The medical team has been able to reduce the fevers by placing him on ice blankets. Drs are looking to do surgery on his hand possibly tomorrow (Oct 6) and there is a good chance he will have a tracheostomy. The doctors want to remove the breathing tubes from down his throat but he is not yet able to fully breathe on his own so a trach is needed.
My Aunt Candi and cousin Kyle have remained by his side and have even been able to communicate with him after they pulled him out of sedation. He is aware that he is in the hospital and injured but does not know the exact extent of his injuries yet. He will have a long road ahead of him in a rehabilitation center once he is able to leave the hospital.
