Support Steve Ball in Hospital on Dialysis

My name is Kelly Allard and I am raising funds for Steve Ball and his partner Michelle. Steve has a special place in my heart, he was my late husband's best friend.

Steve is in the hospital right now with a deadly infection in his leg called Necrotizing Fasciitis. Necrotizing Fasciitis is fast moving, often lethal within days. Steve was admitted to hospital on Friday, on Monday they operated to remove what infection they could in a procedure called a fasciotomy.

Edited - Update on diagnosis - Michelle reports that docs are now saying it was not NF (Necrotizing Fasciitis); they are not sure exactly what caused this infection. Steve did have a fasciotomy and heavy-duty IV antibiotics, he was close to death.

I visited with Steve yesterday, he seemed to be feeling better.

Today Michelle called - Steve's kidneys are failing, his white count is up and he is very ill.

We have no idea what will happen next or how long it will take for Steve to recover. At this point we are looking at weeks, if not months. The last thing Steve and Michelle need to worry about is how to pay the bills. Steve's employment does not provide sick days or short term disability benefits.

Michelle wants to be able to stay by his side as much as possible.

Steve has been driving a tow truck for nearly 26 years, he has rescued many of you in your time of need. Now is our time to repay those favours.
