On Saturday, 4/15/2023, our great friend Steve (Des) DeSimone was involved in a Horrific Motorcycle Accident. While some may have heard this tragic news, there are many others that did not due to the severity of the accident and the uncertainty of Steve’s medical condition in the days/weeks following. As we prayed and asked for God’s love to watch over and help our brother and his family in their time of need, we honored their wishes to preserve the family’s privacy while they dealt with his fight for life.

But now, the time has come to share Steve’s tragedy with all of you so that our family and friends may all come together to help Steve in his time of need.

On that tragic afternoon, Steve was out riding his Harley like he always loved to do. During this ride he was stuck in his right side by another vehicle. Steve was seriously injured and rushed to the hospital. After numerous surgeries, doctors were able to stabilize Steve but were unable to save Steve's right leg.

Steve spent more than 3 weeks in a Florida Hospital and 3 additional weeks of inpatient therapy at a Physical Rehabilitation Center before being released to go home to begin a very different life with his wife Jeanene.

We ALL thank God that Steve survived this ordeal, but we also realize that he and Jeanene will have many obstacles to overcome while he continues to heal and learn to walk again.

With that in mind, there are many current & future expenses that are also inevitable. Health insurance has helped, but co-pays, spending limits and other expenses that are not covered are quickly adding up to an extensive list of bills. Work allotted sick leave and time off will not cover the time necessary to get Steve back to work and with the accumulating medical bills and the loss of Steve’s income… it’s become necessary to help our friends in need.

Several current and many anticipated expenses such as;

* Transportation services to and from Dr Appts.

* Personal transport equipment (wheel chairs, crutches, walkers, etc).

* Prosthetic Legs giving him the ability to return to a "new normal" way of living.

* With on going and future long term physical therapy and the co payments that go with it.

* The possibility of interior home modifications to permit safe, clear accesses & egress. As well as stable pathways in & out of his home.

* Automobile safety "hand controls".

* Assistance with any future health issues.

* And Of Course, loss of Steve’s wages and income.

Steve and Jeanene are a great couple who have always helped others throughout the years, and now they need our help to get them through this tragedy.
