Steve & Irene are Northport High School friends (Classes of 1970 & 1975) who have been together for a long time. They both have serious health conditions that they have worked through over many years. Steve is a talented artist who usually sells his art at craft & art fairs in the Topsail, NC area. He has not been able to do that this year due to COVID restrictions. He is an avid bicyclist and refurbishes pre-owned bicycles. Steve & Irene also love nature and have many animals at their charming cabin, including goats!
About 2.5 months ago Steve had a fall and fractured his hip. He had a hip replacement done at that time but never fully recovered; experiencing a great deal of pain that never went away. After being re-examined it was discovered that he had cancer in the leg that had spread from an as-yet identified primary cancer.
Steve & Irene have essentially been disabled for some time because of their medical conditions and, as such, have limited resources and insurance coverage. Many of the tests, medications & treatments are not fully covered and they will have increased daily expenses when he is released from the hospital.
