Steun Myrthe met Hyperbare Zuurstoftherapie (Long-Covid)

Deze Crowdfunding is opgezet voor Myrthe (33 jaar) om Hyperbare Zuurstoftherapie te volgen voor verbetering van cognitieve klachten door Long-COVID, wat niet wordt vergoed door de zorgverzekering.

In oktober 2020 kreeg ik Long-COVID toen vaccinaties nog niet beschikbaar waren (Long-Covid staat voor langdurige klachten na een Corona besmetting). Sindsdien kamp ik dagelijks met ernstige cognitieve klachten zoals hersenmist, concentratieproblemen, overprikkeling en problemen met mijn korte termijn geheugen. Dit heeft ervoor gezorgd dat ik mijn afstuderen heb moeten staken van mijn studie Bouwkunde en ook werken lukt momenteel niet. Zelfs een autorit van meer dan 10 minuten is te veel. Dit kwam boven op mijn jarenlange strijd met de ziekte van Crohn, wat de situatie extra zwaar maakt.

De afgelopen vier jaar heb ik hard gewerkt aan mijn conditie om fysiek zo fit mogelijk te worden, zoals het beklimmen van de Grossvenediger en hardloopwedstrijden tot 10km. Tijdens een revalidatietraject is gebleken dat fysieke verbetering niet helpt voor verbetering van de cognitieve klachten.

Al twee jaar hoopte ik dat de zorgverzekering hyperbare zuurstoftherapie zou gaan vergoeden, omdat deze behandeling veelbelovende resultaten laat zien bij mensen met specifiek cognitieve klachten door Long-COVID. Helaas blijkt na vier jaar dat de behandeling niet vergoed zal gaan worden.

Toch is hyperbare zuurstoftherapie mijn laatste sprankje hoop. De behandeling duurt 8 weken, waarbij ik 5 dagen per week anderhalf uur in een drukcabine pure zuurstof toegediend krijg. Dit proces kan ervoor zorgen dat zuurstof beter op plekken in het lichaam terechtkomt waar herstel nodig is, zoals in de hersenen. Hyperbare zuurstoftherapie wordt al langer toegepast en wordt wel vergoed bij behandelingen voor wondgenezing en weefselherstel.

De eerste verbeteringen zijn vaak na de eerste 4 tot 6 weken merkbaar of pas na de behandeling. Er is kans dat ik na behandeling nog niet klachtenvrij ben, maar het kan wel zorgen voor een flinke verbetering van mijn kwaliteit van leven. Hierna hoop ik de opleiding Tuinarchitectuur en Beplantingsadviseur in Boskoop te kunnen gaan volgen om in de toekomst aan het werk te kunnen en een zo normaal mogelijk leven te kunnen leiden.

De kosten voor deze therapie zijn ongeveer €8.800,- en wordt dus niet vergoed door de zorgverzekeraar. Daarom vraag ik om jullie hulp. Elke bijdrage, groot of klein, helpt om deze behandeling mogelijk te maken.

Support Myrthe with Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy to recover from Long-COVID

This Crowdfunding has been started for Myrthe (33 years old) to follow Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for improvement of cognitive complaints due to Long-COVID, which is not covered by health insurance.

Dear family, friends, acquaintances and those involved,

In October 2020 I got Long-COVID when vaccinations were not yet available (Long-Covid stands for long-term complaints after a Corona infection). Since then I have been struggling daily with serious cognitive complaints such as brain fog, concentration problems, overstimulation and problems with my short-term memory. This has caused me to have to stop graduating from my Architecture studies and I am also currently unable to work. Even a car ride of more than 10 minutes is too much. This came on top of my years of struggle with Crohn's disease, which makes the situation extra difficult.

Over the past four years, I have worked hard on my condition to become as physically fit as possible, such as climbing the Grossvenediger and running competitions up to 10 km. During a rehabilitation program, it became clear that physical improvement does not help to improve cognitive complaints.

For two years, I had hoped that the health insurance would cover hyperbaric oxygen therapy, because this treatment shows promising results in people with specific cognitive complaints due to Long-COVID. Unfortunately, after four years, it turns out that the treatment will not be covered.

Nevertheless, hyperbaric oxygen therapy is my last hope. The treatment lasts 8 weeks, in which I am treated with pure oxygen in a pressurized cabin for one and an half hours, 5 days a week. This process can ensure that oxygen reaches places in the body where recovery is needed, such as the brain. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy has been used for some time and is covered by health insurance for treatments for wound healing and tissue repair.

The first improvements are often noticeable after the first 4 to 6 weeks or after the treatment. There is a chance that I will not be free of complaints, but it can provide a significant improvement in my quality of life. After this, I hope to be able to follow the Garden Architecture and Planting Advisor course in Boskoop so that I can work in the future and live a normal life.

The costs for this therapy are approximately €8,800 and are therefore not covered by the health insurance. That is why I am asking for your help. Every contribution, large or small, helps to make this treatment possible.
