For those of you who know my dad, Eric Sternlicht, you know he is kind, loving, compassionate, and generous as can be.
He has dedicated his life to helping and serving others - as a teacher, coach, cyclist, and family man. He is a phenomenal father. A beloved professor. A son, uncle, and truest friend. He taught Kinesiology, human physiology, and sports nutrition at UCLA, Occidental, and Chapman University. He loves teaching and the connections he makes with his students are his favorite part.
He also loves cycling and founded his own racing team Simply Fit to sponsor his friends and community members racing. Though he’s suffered numerous medical hardships and setbacks over the years, from a blood-disease to a brain tumor (in addition to some bicycle crashes), it could never keep him from his passion - cycling.
On September 5, 2020 after teaching his first week of Fall Semester at Chapman, my dad Eric had a heart attack while out on a beloved Saturday morning Ride and crashed - breaking 8 ribs, suffering a brain injury, and was given CPR by a passerby — during COVID nonetheless — who found him without a pulse and non-responsive and generously saved my father's life.
He has been in the hospital since the 5th, spending the first 2 weeks in Mission Hospital in a medically-induced coma on a ventilator, then fighting his way back to us in endless rehabs and therapies, most recently at St. Jude's Medical Center. He is being discharged to return home this Wednesday, October 14th, and We need your help in order to continue to provide him with the amazing care he deserves, to help him return to the loving teacher, friend, father, cyclist, and man that he truly is!
Any amount helps, and we can't thank you enough for your support and generosity. Help us stay #SternlichtStrong!
