Update!
Sterling was admitted to Cornell Emergency Animal Hospital on Sunday. They helped to stabilize his injury and treat his pain while awaiting for an MRI on Monday. The MRI results showed that Sterling had an acute non-compressive nucleus pulpous extrusion (ANNPE), a spinal disc injury in dogs that occurs when a small amount of disc material is forced into the spinal canal.
Thankfully, this condition DID NOT require surgery and the vets are hoping Sterling will regain function of his hinds in 3 to 4 weeks with some rehabilitation and strict exercise rest. Without the surgical procedure, the cost of his care went down significantly, however, the emergent admission and MRI still resulted in a 4,500 bill.
Sterling came home on Wednesday and is under the best care of his dad, Louie, and is doing much better. We want to thank you all so much for your donations and your help. We are so grateful for such a wonderful community. Please continue to pray for Sterling as he recovers❤️
Initial post:
Hi Everyone, we are reaching out to ask for your help on behalf of our brother Louie and his beloved dog, Sterling.
Recently, while Sterling was greeting guests at the house, he excitedly jumped and, unfortunately, landed wrong, injuring his back. After an emergency vet visit and some tests, we learned that Sterling slipped a disc in his spine. This injury is causing him a great deal of pain, and the only way to help him fully recover is through an MRI and surgery to repair the damage.
The estimated cost for the MRI and surgery is over $9,000, a huge amount that my brother is struggling to cover. Sterling is more than just a pet – he’s a loyal companion, a best friend, and a part of our family. We’re hoping that with your generous support, we can give Sterling the chance to walk and play again without pain.
If you can donate, no matter how big or small, it would mean the world to us. Your support will go directly toward the medical bills and give Sterling the treatment he urgently needs to heal. If you’re unable to contribute financially, sharing this page with your network would also make a huge difference.
Thank you for taking the time to read Sterling’s story, and thank you in advance for any help you can provide. We truly appreciate your kindness and generosity during this difficult time.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Louie and the rest of the Iacchetta Family
