I did this same fundraisner for the townsfolk a year ago with much success! over 70 animals were sterilized and the people were so grateful for this help. it was an event that cost them nothing- it is a very impoverished community where many residents adopt animals discarded like trash by the city folk. people from Merida come and dump their animals in this tiny hamlet of a community when they are bored with them or no longer want them.

there is an extended family I try to help as much as possible as they go every few days searching for cats and dogs that have been dumped. they live in a tiny two room house and currently have over 20 animals they are caring for!! they barely have enough to survive on yet they do whatever they can and need to, to care for these abandoned and innocent animals.

I get them vet care as needed when their efforts aren't enough as well as try to get some of the animals adopted.

there are currently around 35 dogs and abut 10 cats that need to be sterilized in this town. I'd like to be able to offer this service again.

the vets I work with (Planned Pethood Mexico- associated with tv's Rocky Mountain Vet's Dr Jeff) not only go and set up in the town but provide the medicine and everything needed post op as well. the last campaign I did a year ago took place in the carport of the one woman's property and would be done there again. volunteers take care of the rest that needs doing.
