I'm a social worker living in Ventura, and I got involved in Step Up Ventura before it even had a name!

Step Up Ventura's mission is to promote family stability and school success by providing accessible therapeutic childcare and preschool to homeless children ages zero to five.

There are about 3,250 homeless children in Ventura County aged five and under. We want to give them a chance.

We have to start small, and $35,000  (it used to be 50,000, but more money came in by other routes!) is what will give us a chance to set up the childcare and preschool these children need. It will help 15 children just for the first six months, but that will begin to make our dream a reality.

Once we're providing these services, people will see a track record, provide more funding, and we can continue--and grow.
