How to begin. Josie was working on July 25, 2019. It was a Thursday. She fell that day and had to be taken to the hospital.
My mom was unable stand on her own, and we later learned that she suffered a stroke. There was a blood clot in her brain, and she couldn't control the right side of her body.
Josie was transferred to the neurology division at NYU Langone in Sunset Park, where she was given tests and treatments to help get her to a stable position. With time, Josie got to a stable place, and we were able to take my mom home. But it isn't over yet.
She will need surgery to seal off the aneurysm in her brain to prevent it from happening again. It hasn't been scheduled yet, but we know it's coming. We're trying to secure Medicaid to make these things easier on our family. The uncertainties outweigh the facts here, though.
My mom was the only one working in my family, with my dad retired and my youngest brother in college, she was the primary bread-winner.
We need your help to keep our family afloat until things settle down. Your donations will ease the load for day-to-day life for them for food, medical supplies, and other necessities, as well as, safeguard against any other surprises that could happen. Whether that's the procedure not being covered or... literally anything else really. 2019 has been a wild year, and we don't expect it swing upward suddenly.
We know it's hard out there for everyone.
We are grateful for anything you can give.
Thank you.
