Help Stepping Out Theatre Celebrate 30 Years of Changing Lives
For nearly three decades, Stepping Out has stood as the UK’s leading mental health theatre company. Supported by our patron, Sir Mark Rylance, we have been bringing the life-changing joy of live theatre to mental health service users in Bristol and beyond since 1997.
On 1st April 2027, we will officially turn 30 years old!
But surviving and thriving for another 30 years is by no means certain. While grant funding has sustained us in the past, securing these resources has become increasingly challenging for us and many other organisations. In fact, our last financial year was funded entirely by the generosity of public donations.
We need your help to keep our doors open in 2027.
The Real Impact of Your Support
Through theatrical productions, creative workshops, social trips, and mentoring, our work provides a vital lifeline. But don't just take our word for it—here is what Stepping Out means to our members:
• "I felt like I had been asleep for 20 years, and then doing the play, I came awake."
• "I was suicidal and very depressed, I had no friends... Now I interact with others."
• "I don't think I would be here now if it wasn't for Stepping Out Theatre."
• "It is very important that Stepping Out continues to serve the community as a warm, welcoming meeting place."
How You Can Help Us.
To ensure we can continue to change lives throughout 2027 and beyond, your donations will directly fund:
• Regular creative workshops and individual mentoring for Bristol's mental health community.
• Production costs for our upcoming live theatre performances.
• Theatre trips and other social trips, helping to combat isolation.
Whether you can give £5 or £50, every single donation keeps our vital community alive. If you cannot donate, please consider sharing our story.
Thank you for helping us keep the lights on for another 30 years.
