My name is Elijah Hedges I am asking you all to open your hearts and help save my Stepmother. Her name is Roda May Fernandez Galve, and she has recently been diagnosed with stage 2 pancreatic cancer and is in need of very costly treatments. She lives in Iloilo Philippines with my father who is a Retired US MARINE. He is on a meager fixed income and, because the type of treatment she needs is not available where they live, she will have to travel to Manila.
Then, if the procedure is not available there then they will travel to either Singapore or China. My father cannot afford the treatments that could save her life, let alone the travel costs and hospitalizations. That is why we are reaching out to all those who are willing to give just a little to help this beautiful soul.
We lost my biological mother to ovarian cancer in 2003 and I would hate for my father to lose her to. When I lived there May was like my mom a very loving and wonderful lady. She is a very humble, God loving Catholic and always treated me as if I were her own. So I want to reach out to you all and ask you to help me save her from a very premature end She is only 49 years old and should have a long life ahead of her, if she can beat this disease she will have a chance of a long relatively normal life. Please help us make this a reality.
To do this we would need to raise $20,000.00 . We were told that the tumor is inoperable however we are seeking a second evaluation which involves a "Thin needle aspiration biopsy with ultrasound " to confirm this. If it is determined to be operable it may require removal of a portion of the pancreas as well.
If not then we will pursue other options that would involve either immunotherapy, targeted radiation therapy, nano technology, which would require travel to another country . The last resort being Chemotherapy/radiation therapy, however the odds with this treatment are quite low.
Any funds in excess of what is needed will be donated to Cancer research here in the Philippines that it may help others stricken by this deadly disease in the future. Thank you for your generous donations.
