Steph’s Fight Against Breast Cancer
Donation protected
My name is Lindsey and I started this fundraiser in attempt to relieve some financial stress off my best friend, after an unexpected diagnosis.
On October 21st, Stephanie was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, Stage 1/Triple Negative.
In August, she did genetic testing for the BRCA gene mutation and received a diagnosis of BRCA1 Positive. After being referred to UF Health's Hereditary Cancer Department, she began preparing for prophylactic surgeries to reduce her risks in the future. The breast surgeon requested a mammogram, which led to an ultrasound, then to a biopsy and to her breast cancer diagnosis.
Typically women won’t have a mammogram until 40, without the BRCA1 diagnosis. And she wouldn't have made it to 40 without a mammogram.
Stephanie has 2 young girls, Sophia (10) and Norah (2) as well as a supportive husband, Justin and lots of family and friends, who will do whatever we can to get her and her little family through this. This GoFundMe is my attempt to do just that. Even with insurance, the bills are already stacking up and she hasn’t even begun treatment yet.
Her port is being placed this week and then chemo treatments will begin shortly after that. After 12 weeks of chemo, they will reevaluate and then she will have a bilateral mastectomy done.
It will be a difficult journey and definitely not an easy one. But she is a STRONG and BEAUTIFUL woman and I know she will fight this thing with all she has.
If you’re able to donate to help with medical expenses, please do. If not, please send prayers and share this page so we can reach as many people as possible. Thank you! -Lindsey
