Stephen's Myofascial Pain Syndrome (MPS) Recovery
Donation protected
Stephen is a West Point graduate, and we are a group of fellow grads (California, Houston, and San Antonio) looking to support him as he recovers from a chronic condition known as MPS (Myofascial Pain Syndrome).
We first reached out to Stephen in summer 2021 because we were concerned he might have trouble receiving care in the early stages of quarantine and lockdown. After an intense 2022 that saw him experience job loss, the loss of his business, medical bills uncovered by insurance and multiple hospital visits, we'd like to try to support him as he continues his recovery in 2023.
The trauma of experiencing vertigo for several days followed by emergency room visits last year has aggravated Stephen's MPS pain. His increase in pain now makes it difficult for him to sit, stand, or work for long periods. After some conversation around New Year's, while he was recuperating, we decided it would be most helpful for him to work with an osteopath, a craniosacral therapist specializing in TRT (Trauma Release Technique), and an Emotional Trauma Release therapist. We'd love to see him progress with these types of therapies that, although falling outside his insurance coverage, will allow his nervous system to relax, recalibrate and work the best it can long-term.
Connecting with specialized therapists who can work with Stephen for the next several months is key to helping him with MPS patterns that have developed. At the same time, Stephen will be starting the process of applying for disability with the help of his primary care doctor in Los Angeles.
Though the situation is intense, we believe the military community and Stephen's civilian friends, family, and loved ones will help us get the word out. Please consider supporting him as we manage this fundraiser from Texas and California. Right now, it will run through June, and we plan on keeping you updated on Stephen's recovery along the way, as will he via email and social media.
Thank you all for your support. We appreciate you guys and Stephen, get well soon!
