From Survival to Sanctuary: Help a Disabled Veteran Save His Home and Build Hope
Hi, I’m Stephen — a disabled Marine Corps Iraq war veteran, former database developer, and founder of The Catsbah, a home-based kitten rescue that has saved dozens of abandoned kittens.
For the past few years, I’ve been fighting to keep the roof over my head after my disability cut my income in half—from over $100,000/year to just $46,000/year. I’ve battled foreclosure, scraped by, and poured everything I have into staying afloat while continuing to care for orphaned kittens as a way of coping with my chronic pain and loss of my ability to work. Until one little kitten, The Earl of Lemongrab, brought The Catsbah community together and gave me a plan for something bigger:
️ Camp Hope — an off-grid sanctuary for healing, growth, and community.
Camp Hope will be a sanctuary in New Mexico where disabled veterans, trauma survivors, and foster animals find purpose and peace—together. Residents will gain practical job skills like coding, farming, sustainable energy, animal care, and entrepreneurship while rebuilding their lives in a supportive mutual aid network.
But right now, I can’t move forward until I stabilize my housing situation.

Why I Need Your Help:
Pay off debts from years of reduced income and battles with foreclosure
⚖️ Reclaim peace of mind so I can fully focus on building Camp Hope
Continue rescuing kittens and keeping The Catsbah alive and purring
Launch the next phase of my life’s mission — healing through community
---
What You’re Supporting:
A disabled veteran staying in his home
Dozens more kittens rescued and rehomed
The foundation of an off-grid sanctuary that will change lives
A vision of community-powered healing, not just survival
---
Even $5 helps. Sharing this campaign is just as powerful. I’ve made it this far thanks to strangers and kind hearts. With your support, I can stop fighting foreclosure and start building the future I’ve been dreaming of.
From my heart—and from every kitten I’ve held in my arms—thank you.
