I'm Stephen and she's Asami. We fell in love with each other while dating over five years in Japan. We both love traveling and dreamed of taking a worldwide trip, even before we met. We decided to finally make our dreams come true together and see the world as a married couple!
In lieu of a typical wedding gift (or bridal registry), we're asking for a financial gift of support to help us make it through this exciting journey. We chose to use GoFundMe for its security and features where anyone can give a gift or make a donation anonymously. You could always leave a gift and include your name, or you could do so without your name being visible. Asami and I will still be able to see your donation privately, and thank you for your kindness and generosity.
Saving has been really challenging as I'm an English teacher in Japan and she's a freelancer working a tireless schedule. We're saving as much as we possibly can for:
- a traditional wedding in Tokyo (for her friends and family, on August 23rd)
- a small wedding in Florida, USA (for mine, on January 10th)
- our world trip as a married couple
- settling into a new a place to live after our trip
We will use the money raised from this GoFundMe to help contribute to all of this. We found an itinerary for our world trip which allows us to visit several countries in one year with one plane ticket. The cost of the ticket is $8,000 each. Plus expenses for trains, hotels, and food.
We plan on visiting these countries over eight months, from October 2025 to June 2026: Bali (Indonesia), Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, The USA, Tanzania, Turkey, Italy, Greece, Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Netherlands, Iceland, Portugal, Spain, Sri Lanka. Along the way, we'll visit friends and family in far-away locations and see sights we'll never forget. Our adventures will be seen in photos and video blogs on social media like YouTube.
In a way, we're leaving everything behind to be on the road for over half a year. I'm quitting my full-time job, selling my stuff and moving out of the apartment in Japan. This is a giant leap of faith in our lives. We don't yet know where we'll settle down after our worldwide trip. Our love for each other is strong and with everyone's support, we'll have an unforgettable start as husband and wife. Thank you so much for being a part of this. ~Stephen and Asami
