Help Stephen stay in a warm, safe home and heal.

Hello, my name is Stephen, an ex flight attendant of 30 years.

I absolutely loved my job, my life, and now I realise, above all, my health.

I had an accident a few years back, yet, after 18 months of intense physio was finally fit enough to return to the skies at the end of 2019.

Then covid hit; and was made redundant.

I had noticed that my body was doing some weird stuff, bleeding out of my pores, loosing my vision, raw sensitive skin, legs failing and intense fatigue.

After many months of tests, I was finally diagnosed with Myalgia Encephalomyelitis.

It's destroyed my life.

It's over two years now since I was last able to work.

I am bed ridden most of the time.

I am in a financial hole that I cannot get out of.

I am super close to becoming homeless, after working so hard all these years.

It's shocking and scary how quickly things can get so bad.

I am still paying off a loan I had to take out to pay for my physio, I'm 6 months overdue on rent and like so many others right now, astronomical utility bills.

I am feeding myself from the local food bank and they are so kind, I'm incredibly grateful but the food is not ideal for healing (no fresh fruit, veg or meat).

I have to control the temperature in my flat as my body cannot regulate temperature properly and I am bed bound up to 20 hours a day.

I wish things were different, and that I could get some money together through work, but this is not an option for me right now. I tried, I got a job in a coffee shop two days a week, two weeks later, I had to reduce to 1 day a week, because it was making me so ill. Three weeks later, I had to stop.

I remain hopeful that one day I'll be well enough to work again.
