My Name is Sean Hanna. This is the hardest thing I have ever had to do. Stephen and I were together for just over 8 years. He was, is and will forever be the most wonderful, loving, kind, peaceful, helping, creative and joyful human I have ever had the pleasure of knowing, much less calling my husband, partner, and best friend.
Earlier this year - not long ago at all, he was given some terrible news that he had a form of cancer called a brain stem glioma. This was one of the most aggressive and dangerous of tumors to have and he needed to get treatment immediately to have a chance of an extended life.
We entered the hospital on July 3rd and started undergoing treatment and after being by his side day and night the entire time, Stephen was on the road to recovery. We were days away from transferring to a rehabilitation hospital before we were hit with a horrible blow.
Not much more than a month later, on August 12th, Stephen contracted an infection that his body was unable to fight because of the cancer, the chemotherapy and the radiation therapy. And after a short fight against the infection, Stephen lost the battle and passed away - his brother and myself standing with him.
Needless to say, he was young and none of us were prepared for making arrangements for such a devastating event. We are raising money to help us pay for his final arrangements and memorial.
If you are a family member, friend, or coworker and were touched in any way by Stephen's life, we invite you to share in the celebration of his life by donating any amount to his memorial fund. Stephen's, brother, parents, family and I all thank you for anything you can help with during this difficult time.
