I’m writing this on behalf of the Okedairo family who is going through unimaginable grief. Ann, Peter, Daniella and their mother, Charity are heartbroken to share the sudden loss of their loving father and devoted husband, Stephen Okedairo.

Growing up in Lagos, Nigeria, Stephen was always hard working, putting in long days to ensure his family always had the best. He never complained. He never asked for anything. His love was shown in action, sacrifice, and selflessness. As a husband, he was Charity’s heartbeat, her everything, and he made her feel worthy and proud every day.

Ann, Peter, and Daniella attended boarding schools in Nigeria so the Okedairos had never travelled together as a family. Living in Winnipeg and not having seen their parents since 2023, this year seemed like it was finally the right time to have that family trip and show their parents more of Canada. Stephen preferred to stay home as he was never a fan of flying and did not want to trouble others. He wanted his kids to use their money for what he considered more important things, but Ann, Peter and Daniella wanted this chance to take care of him the same way he took care of them for so many years. After weeks and weeks of pleading, Stephen and Charity agreed to travel to Canada this summer, and the family took a trip to Niagara Falls.

The night before their return to Winnipeg, the trip turned into something no one could have imagined. While out celebrating their mother's birthday at a restaurant, Stephen wanted to use the restroom before they left, everyone grumbled that the Uber had arrived but agreed they could have the driver wait. The server pointed Stephen to a door, which everyone naturally assumed led to the restroom, but behind that door was a staircase. Stephen fell and tragically died.

Now, the family is not only grieving this devastating loss but is also facing the overwhelming cost to send his body home to Nigeria. The cost of transporting him is currently estimated at $13,000. If you are able, please consider donating to help send Stephen home. If you are unable to give financially, sharing this page would be so appreciated.

Thank you for your love, prayers, and support during this difficult time.
