Stephen Needs A Knee

Donation protected
Friends, family, kind people out there, I come to you asking for help in an unfortunate time. If you've ever had an imobling injury, you might be able to relate, if not....I hope you never do. Here it is: On Friday July 13th luck was not with me. I attempted  a wheelie on a Japanese foldable bicycle, and needless to say...it went very wrong. When I lifted the front wheel, the bike shot upward like a missile. Naturally, with my catlike reflexes (kidding) I landed on my feet; however my knee buckled immediately and I heard a loud POP.  After a night of not walking and a bit of panic, I got an MRI scan that reveald I managed to do the following dammage to my knee: Rupture of the Patellar tendon. Partial-tear of the medial patellar retinaculum. Medial meniscal tear. (MCL) Anterior cruciate ligament tear.  (ACL) It's a pretty gnarly injury and has made me immobile and honestly in a quite a bit of pain.  The scariest part is that I do not have health insurance. I now know how important it is to have health insurance. I have been scrambling for solutions since the injury.  This surgery requires an orthopedic surgeon. This is not a surgery that can be performed in an ER. In order to have the surgery performed I have to pay for it up front. No payment plans are possible.  I have probably spoken to every orthopedic surgeons office in LA and done my best to find any creative solutions to help cover the cost of the surgery.  Dr. Pelton of LA Orthpedic has agreed to wave many of the fees of the surgery for me and keep the costs as low as possible. What he has no control over is the cost of the facility, anesthesiologist, special braces, physical therapy etc. My ruptured Patella requires immediate surgery. If I wait any longer scar tissue will begin to form and that can cause permanent dammage.  I my torn ACL and MCL will be revisited in a year or so from now, after I have insurance. The ACL and MCL can partially heal on their own, however to correct the ACL and MCL a much more serious (and expensive) surgery is required. I'm in a pretty bad situation here. I feel aweful and embarrassed asking for help like this. Time is against me and I need funds for the surgery as soon as possible.  Any help, even a small amount if you can afford it would be greatly appreciated and I will figure out a way to make it up you as soon as possible! I never thought I'd be writing a post like this on GoFundMe me but I'm worried about so many things. I can't imagine not being able to walk or do activities again the way I used to. Thank you for taking the time to read my post. Thank you all for your time and help.
