4/27/23 UPDATE: As of yesterday, my dad has unfortunately suffered from a heart attack. He’s been taken out of rehabilitation and relocated to another hospital for a major open heart surgery. I’ve updated our goal to reflect this development.

My family and I would like to thank everyone for their donations so far. To us, it’s amazing that this many people would lend a helping hand in such a short amount of time. We’re extremely grateful for everything everyone has done for us. All we can ask is that you continue to donate and share so we can ensure my dad is happy and healthy once again.

Last week, my father had a stroke.

Nobody was sure what was happening when he didn’t drop me off at school that morning. He called and told me he wasn’t feeling well, and that he’d talk to me later. Mistakenly, I believed him.

The damage is severe. If his friend hadn’t checked up on him when he did, he might not be here today.

I like to think of my dad as a beacon. My dad is warm, intelligent, and kind. He’s our guiding hand when we need a voice of reason, and the cure to a day we’d sometimes rather forget. My dad’s presence in my life has illuminated the darkest corners of my world. There’s not a soul I know that would say anything different. He would never, ever, ever shy away from a person in need. This time, I’d like to return the favor.

Proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly to my dad’s medical costs. The bills from the ICU, rehabilitation programs, and outpatient care are more than my family can afford, especially without insurance. With your help, we’ll see to it that my dad gets the support he needs.
